1. RE:1st book Ive read by Margolin...HOOKED! Posted 9/1/2010
Dear lorvoll: Most of my books are stand alones, but WILD JUSTICE, TIES THAT BIND, PROOF POSITIVE AND FUGITIVE - in that order - feature Frank and Amanda Jaffe, a father-daughter criminal defense team. They can be read out of order, too. Also EXECUTIVE PRIVILEGE and SUPREME JUSTICE are books one and...

archernf: Thanks. I'll send this to the publisher. Hopefully they'll get it in time to make the change in the paperback. Phil

3. RE:Racial identifications Posted 8/24/2010
newsreader: I lived in Africa for two years and whites were a distinct and identifiable minority. If I wrote a novel set in Africa I would let the reader know that a character was Caucasian by saying he was white or blond etc. In fact, I did this in "Fugitive," which has many of the opening chapters...

4. RE:Racial identifications Posted 8/23/2010
Dear newsreader: Thanks for the thought provoking comment. In a movie you don't need to describe characters. In a novel you have to paint a picture for the reader: what is the character's hair color, hobbies, does he limp or have acne. Skin color is another part of the picture. If I didn't say that...

5. RE:A Sincere Inspiration Posted 8/11/2010
Emma: I'm glad you're enjoying my books so much. I'm starting on a sequel to "Supreme Justice." It should come out next year. Did you know that "Gone" was made into a miniseries with Brooke Shields as Betsy Tanenbaum. It shows on Lifetime and is available on DV D. I think they did a pretty good job....

6. RE:Just finished "Supreme Justice" Posted 8/10/2010
Punchwalk: Thanks for writing. I'm glad you enjoyed the book. I had a lot of fun writing it because I argued a case at the Court in 1978 and got a tour when I was doing the research. Phil

7. RE:Which came first? Posted 7/24/2010
Bookworm: I've written four novels with Frank and Amanda Jaffe. You can read them in any order, although I do refer to incidents from the books that came before. In order, the Jaffe books are "Wild Justice," "Ties That Bind," Proof positive," and "Fugitive." I hope this helps. Phil

9. RE:Thank You! Posted 7/7/2010
Claire: I'm glad you've been enjoying my books. I've been in Atlanta and Macon several times on book tours, but publishers aren't doing the huge tours they used to have authors go on. I also came to Atlanta a lot because my daughter went to Emory. Phil

10. RE:Thank you! Posted 7/3/2010
Melissa: Thanks for writing and the kind words. They are music to my ears, especially since I never even had writing on my radar as a career and got a late start. I'm totally self-taught and sometimes I wonder if I know what I'm doing. I'm hard at work on my next book. I hope you like it....
